Biography
Dr. Zardkoohi is the T.J. Barlow professor business administration in the Department of Management at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Zardkoohi’s research and teaching interests are in the areas of organizational architecture, corporate governance, decision making, business and public policy, macroeconomics and the global environment of business, industrial organization, financial intermediaries, and law and economics. His current research interests are in corporate governance, decision making under uncertainty, and executive compensation. Dr. Zardkoohi’s research has appeared in a variety of academic journals including American Economic Review; Journal of Finance; Journal of Law and Economics; Southern Economic Journal; Northwestern Law Review; Economic Inquiry; Journal of Banking and Finance; Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization; Harvard Journal on Legislation; Strategic Management Journal; Academy of Management Review; and Academy of management Journal. Dr. Zardkoohi has received numerous teaching awards at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University: University Teaching Award, 2011; Mays Teaching Fellowship Award, 2010; Mays Teaching Performance Award, 2010; Executive MBA Teaching Excellence Award, 2009; Mays Business School MBA Teaching Excellence Award, 2009; Mays Business School, Executive MBA Faculty Recognition Award for Teaching, 2006; Association of Former Students, Mays Business School, Distinguished Teaching Award, 2003; and Association of Former Students, Mays Business School, Distinguished Teaching Award, 1989. Dr. Zardkoohi team teaches a course on the economic analysis of contract law at EDHEC, a business school in Roubaix/Nice/Paris, France. In addition, he teaches an executive class in Saudi Arabia for Aramco’s executives, at the company’s Headquarters in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He also has done executive teaching in Indonesia. Dr. Zardkoohi has received research grants from NASA, the American Banking Association, AT&T, and the Small Business Administration. He has won the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University Distinguished Research Award, 1985. He is a research fellow at Texas A&M University’s Private Enterprise Research Center.
