David R. Skeie

Biography

David Skeie joined Mays Business School at Texas A&M University as an Assistant Professor of Finance and Mays Research Fellow in July 2014. Dr. Skeie was previously a Senior Economist in the Research and Statistics Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which he joined in 2004. During 2014, he was a visiting Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance at NYU Stern School of Business. Dr. Skeie also previously held positions as a trader at the hedge fund Citadel Investment Group and as a senior associate at the financial risk management consultancy firm Capital Market Risk Advisors. Dr. Skeie’s research fields include financial intermediation, financial stability and regulation, corporate finance, contract theory, money and banking, and monetary policy. His research has been published in Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Review of Economic Dynamics, and additional finance and economics journals. His current research focuses on the relationship between banking liquidity, interbank markets, and the Federal Reserve’s new monetary policy tools for managing interest rates with an unprecedentedly large balance sheet. Dr. Skeie’s areas of teaching have included corporate finance, macro finance, and macroeconomics at the undergraduate, masters, MBA, and PhD levels. Dr. Skeie received a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University and a B.S. in Economics from MIT.
