Richard L. Haney Jr

Biography

Dr. Haney specializes in real estate finance and mortgage market analysis, real property development, and income-property valuation. His current research focuses on (1) real property pricing changes upon unexpected events and (2) mortgage market efficiency issues, including facets of both the primary and secondary markets. He is interested in the operation of the real estate markets in both the United States and abroad, especially in Central and South America and in the Eastern European countries. An earlier research stream examined homeowner energy efficiency concerns and reactions to perceived high energy prices. Professor Haney’s research has been published widely in both scholarly journals and professional real estate publications, including Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Housing Research, Housing Finance Review, Financial Management, California Management Review, Journal of Portfolio Management, Quarterly Review of Economics and Business, Appraisal Journal, and Real Estate Review. Dr. Haney is a Fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute and a Faculty Fellow of the Mortgage Bankers Association. In addition to his scholarly publications, he has co-authored three textbooks: Real Estate Decisions, Financing Real Estate, and Real Estate Development.
