Sorin M. Sorescu

Biography

Sorin Sorescu is Professor of Finance and the Ruby and Earle A. Shields Jr. ’41 Chair in Investment Advising at Mays Business School. Prior to joining Mays in 2002, he was Assistant Professor of Finance at the Bauer College of Business, University of Houston. He holds a PhD degree in Finance from University of Florida, as well as an MBA and Bachelors of Electrical Engineering from McGill University in Canada. Professor Sorescu’s research interests focus on short sales and informational content of securitry prices, asset management, market efficiency, and macro finance. His research appears in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Financial Markets, the Journal of International Money and Finance, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. Professor Sorescu taught corporate finance, financial markets, and investments analysis at the undergraduate, M.S. MBA, EMBA and Ph.D. levels. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Finance.
