Stephen Courtright

Biography

Stephen Courtright is an associate professor and Presidential Impact Fellow in the Department of Management at Mays Business School, where he teachers courses on organizational leadership and talent management. He received a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, and a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Dr. Courtright’s research focuses on bad bosses and dysfunctional teams, and what organizations can do to prevent both. His research has been published in leading scholarly journals and has been featured by The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, Forbes, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and U.S. News and World Report, among others. He is the recipient of several research awards from the Academy of Management and serves on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of Applied Psychology. As a teacher, Dr. Courtright is the recipient of the 2014-2015 Montague-Center for Teaching Excellence Scholar Award and was named a Faculty Fellow for Innovation in High-Impact Learning Experiences by Texas A&M’s Center for Teaching Excellence. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate students, he teaches executive development courses and advises doctoral students. Prior to earning his Ph.D., Dr. Courtright worked as an accountant. Most importantly, he and his wife, Nicole, are the proud parents of four wonderful and rambunctious children.
