Biography

Tim Torno began his full time teaching career at Mays Business School in August 2014. He currently teaches Financial Statement Analysis (ACCT/FINC 647), Fraud Examination (ACCT 410) and a special mergers and acquisitions course called Dealmakers in M&A. Mr. Torno has more than 35 years of executive level business experience. Prior to his arrival at Mays, he taught graduate level courses in the College of Business at the University of Dallas. Prior to selling the company in August 2013, Mr. Torno served for eight years as Chief Financial Officer of eInstruction Corp., a Denton based international market leading educational technology company. Prior to eInstruction, Mr. Torno served for 5 years as CFO/VP-Finance for a Dallas based venture backed wireless software company. Prior to that, Mr. Torno was the CFO for 12 years for a Lewisville based publicly held electronic technology company that grew from $20 million in sales to more than $200 million in annual worldwide sales while going public in the process. Mr. Torno’s business experience includes two successful public stock offerings, numerous debt financings and over 25 mergers and acquisitions in 12 countries. He has led five successful computer implementations, including a SAP ERP installation in 1999. Prior to his CFO tenures, Mr. Torno spent nine years with “Big 4” firm accounting firm KPMG in the Corpus Christi, Denver and New York offices where he focused primarily on audit services including fraud, SEC registrations and M&A due diligence. Mr. Torno holds a BBA from Texas A&M University-College Station, and an MBA from University of Phoenix. He also is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and member of the AICPA.
