Biography

Dr. Simone Mader completed her PhD at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria in the Department of Neurology. For her PhD studies she has been working on autoantibodies in Multiple sclerosis and Neuromyelitis optica (NMO). Her work focused on anti-aquaporin-4 autoantibodies and their relevance for disease pathogenesis in NMO spectrum disorders. Dr. Simone Mader is currently working as an Instructor in the laboratory of Dr. Betty Diamond studying anti-brain antibodies in lupus and NMO. She is an SLE Foundation fellow. Research Interest

Since joining Dr Betty Diamond’s team in the Center for Autoimmune, Musculoskeletal and Hematopoietic Diseases at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, Simone Mader’s research has focused on brain reactive autoantibodies in neuropsychiatric lupus patients and neuromyelitis optica as well as the role of different maternal brain reactive autoantibodies on neurodevelopment.
