Biography
Dr. Richard Beane, Jr. has been a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the UNC School of Dentistry for over 30 years. He received his D.D.S. from Howard University in 1967 and obtained a Certificate in Orthodontics from University of Rochester, Eastman Institute. After several years with Howard University as an orthodontic faculty member, Dr. Beane moved to North Carolina in 1976, entered private practice in Durham and at the same time, joined the faculty at UNC School of Dentistry’s Department of Orthodontics. He stayed with UNC full time until retirement in 2007, but continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member. Dr. Beane is loved at The Happy Tooth Orthodontic Office of Chapel Hill! His current interests include traveling with his beautiful wife, Phyllis, and spending time with his family, including eight grandchildren. In his leisure time, he also enjoys playing golf.
