Biography
Professor Sidhu is an attorney in private practice, legal scholar, and former government official. He is Of Counsel at the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, where he works on appeals and constitutional cases, and represents criminal defendants on a pro bono basis. Professor Sidhu has taught at the Georgetown University Law Center and University of New Mexico School of Law, where he was awarded tenure. His first teaching position was at the law school as an adjunct professor. He also has held research posts at Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford. With respect to public service, Professor Sidhu worked as a fellow at the Supreme Court of the United States, as Special Assistant to the Chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell, and as a staff attorney in the policy arm of the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights. Professor Sidhu's writings have been cited by the Solicitor General of the United States, a federal district court, and several governmental agencies. His essays have appeared in The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Atlantic, The New Republic, and SCOTUSblog, among other places. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Born and raised in Maryland, Professor Sidhu is a member of the Maryland bar and a graduate of the Maryland State Bar Association's Leadership Academy.
