Biography
Danziger joined the faculty as Senior Fellow for the Center for Families, Children and the Courts in 2002 after serving as the staff director of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Substance Abuse for eight years. Before that, Danziger was a journalist and an author, as well as a consultant in private practice. Danziger, who has written on a number of subjects, is the co-author with Rita Simon of a book on the history of women's rights, Women's Movements in America. Danziger worked for many years as a journalist for the Voice of America, the Atlantic City Sun and Justice Quarterly. She has written extensively on substance abuse and addiction issues in the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy, Family Law Quarterly and various ABA publications, including “Attorney's Guide to Drugs in the Workplace” (ed.) and “Truancy, Literacy, and the Courts.” Danziger has co-authored, with School of Law Professor Barbara A. Babb, several CFCC publications, including “A Strong Presence in the Life of a Child: A Report on Unified Family Courts and Juvenile Delinquency Matters” and “Results of a Judicial Survey on the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.” Danziger has spoken widely about the impact of addiction and substance abuse on families and children and serves on a number of advisory committees, including the Physician and Lawyers for National Drug Policy judicial committee and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment Recovery Month national advisory board. She has also served as a member of the advisory boards for the Vera Institute, the Addiction Technology Transfer Center national program and the Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free. She was a founding co-chair of the National Substance Abuse Coalition, a coalition of national membership organizations collaborating on substance abuse and addiction issues.
