Biography

Sharon Glazer is a cross-cultural organizational psychologist who studies the role of culture in individuals' organizational ABCs (affects, behaviors, and cognitions), changes in (organizational and national) cultures due to domestic policies in a globalizing world, and differences and similarities between (national and organizational) cultures on individuals, teams, and organizations' ABCs. Dr. Glazer utilizes survey, interview, observation, and archival methods to study the above. She has collaborated or studied under the tutelage of eminent cross-cultural psychology scholars, including Drs. Shalom Schwartz, Peter Smith, Kwok Leung, and Mark Peterson. Currently, she is leading cross-cultural training and priming research and is leading a cross-cultural research effort on leadership and stress. Dr. Glazer has published over 20 articles and book chapters on above related content. She is presently Professor and Chair of the Division of Applied Behavioral Sciences at the University of Baltimore, affiliate Research Professor at the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language and Department of Psychology, Treasurer of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP), and Editor of the International Journal of Stress Management. From 1996-1997, Dr. Glazer was a Fulbright scholar at the Technical University of Budapest, as well as northern Italy and England, from 1999-2000 she was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and in 2006-2007 she was an Erasmus Mundus Scholar (1 of 3 people selected world-wide), teaching and researching at University of Paris and University of Bologna. Dr. Glazer was also SJSU's International Studies Fellow (2005-2006) and Global Studies Fellow (2004-2005), and recipient of a research grant from NASA to study safety climate/culture in the aviation industry. In 2009 and 2011, Dr. Glazer received a small grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education & Innovation to teach a seminar course in the doctoral program at University of Valencia (2009 and 2011). She has 20+ years of teaching experience and 15+ years consulting experience. Dr. Glazer has worked, taught, and lived in the USA, Israel, France, Italy, and Hungary and speaks six languages (fluent: English, Hebrew, good: Hungarian, fair: Italian, French, and Russian).
