Biography
I graduated in Chemical Engineering in 2002 from the University of Palermo, Italy, with a Master thesis on process control. I defended my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2007 at the University Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain, under the supervision of Dr. Flor Siperstein and Dr. Allan Mackie, with a dissertation on self-assembling block copolymers for the synthesis of liquid-crystalline mesophases.
Research Interest
The core of my research is to investigate the physicochemical behaviour of Soft Matter systems with focus on their ability to self-assemble into more complex supramolecular mesophases. To this end, I apply computer simulation methods, being a powerful tool to disclose, at the single-particle level, the physics driving equilibrium and dynamical properties of a given system, and hence to predict and control its macroscopic response.
