Biography
I was appointed Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at The University of Manchester in September 2014. Immediately before that, I undertook a postdoctoral research period at the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, IN, USA) under the supervision of Prof. Brennecke, during which I developed studies on the thermodynamic properties of ionic liquid mixtures. Previously, I completed my PhD studies at the Complutense and the Autonomous Universities of Madrid (Spain), supervised by Prof. Rodriguez and Prof. Palomar. In addition, during my PhD, I worked as a research scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA, USA) under the guidance of Prof. Eckert and Prof. Liotta. My PhD dissertation entitled “Ionic liquids for gas capture: Case studies of CO2 and NH3 absorption” involved the design of task-specific ionic liquids for gas absorption as well as the experimental determination of the thermodynamic and kinetic behaviour of the gas-ionic liquid systems.
Research Interest
My research focuses on the development of sustainable separation processes based on optimized solvents by a multi-scale approach involving computational and experimental methods.
