Andrew Anderson

Biography

Andrew Anderson is the Assistant Director for Sports Bands at the University of Tulsa. In this capacity, he is the director of the “Sound of the Golden Hurricane” Marching Band and Basketball Bands, as well as co-conductor of the TU Symphonic Winds. Prior to this appointment, Anderson served as a Graduate Conducting Assistant for the Oklahoma State University band program, where he received his Master's Degree in Wind Conducting while studying with Dr. Joseph Missal. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. Before embarking on his collegiate career, Anderson taught for 6 years at Piedmont Public Schools, where bands under his direction received consistently high ratings at OSSAA, OBA, and Bands of America events. Mr. Anderson is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator, and is a prolific music arranger for many marching and concert ensembles around the region. He has presented clinics to numerous high schools in Oklahoma, and has adjudicated events in the Tulsa area as well as in Missouri. He has arranged over 90 marching shows for high school groups over the last 10 years; marching bands performing his arrangements have won Oklahoma Bandmasters' Association Grand Championships at the 1A-2A-3A and 4-5-A levels, and a Bands of America Class A St. Louis Regional Championship. Mr. Anderson continues to accept commissions for concert band transcriptions as well, with positive reviews from directors and audiences alike. Mr. Anderson's professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association and Oklahoma Music Educators' Association.
