Biography
Brian Hosmer came to the University of Tulsa after seven year in Chicago, where he taught in the History Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and served as Director of the Newberry Library's D'Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian History. At the Newberry, he had the opportunity to administer fellowship programs, host conferences and symposia, and develop initiatives dedicated toward nurturing academic scholarship. Among his proudest accomplishments was a series of summer institutes for staff and faculty at Tribally Controlled Community Colleges. Prior to Chicago, Hosmer held teaching positions in Wyoming, Delaware and upstate New York.
Research Interest
American Indian ethno history, focusing on economic change and cultural identity, wage labor and tribal capitalism, American Indian Nation Building.
