Chad Settle's research covers a range of topics such as the integration of biological and economic systems, citizen suits, bargaining models, the importance of mitigation and adaptation in long-range planning, asymmetric information, demand side management, hyperbolic discounting, and people's perceptions of losses versus gains. His main area of concentration is post-invasion management of exotic plant and animal species.
