Biography
Kim Childs, Associate Professor of Choral Studies and Voice at the University of Tulsa, directs the Cappella Chamber Singers, TU Chorale, teaches private voice and choral conducting, as well as mentoring at least one student assistant conductor per year. Childs has conducted the Duruflé Requiem, Mozart Requiem, Britten Rejoice in the Lamb, Pinkham Christmas Cantata, Vivaldi Gloria, Handel Messiah, Mozart Coronation Mass, Fauré Requiem, and many other choral works.
Research Interest
Conducting performances this past academic year include the Whitacre FIVE HEBREW LOVE SONGS, Vaughan Williams MASS IN G MINOR, and Herbert Howells REQUIEM. Solo vocal performances include the Rorem LAST POEMS OF WALLACE STEVENS and a return to Dallas, Texas to perform as Evangelist in J. S. Bach’s ST. MATTHEW PASSION. Other events included selection as conducting fellow at the Atlanta Summer Conducting Institute, hosting the Oklahoma State National Association of Teacher’s of Singing at the University of Tulsa, and hosting a major choral clinic for Cappella with Dr. Deanna Joseph of Georgia State University.
