Biography
Dr. Alan P. Blanchard, Ph.D., co-founded Thrive Bioscience, Inc. in 2014 and serves as its Chief Scientific Officer. Previously, Dr. Blanchard was a Research Fellow at Life Technologies and its predecessor company, Applied Biosystems. His work there centered on next generation DNA sequencing technology, including the SOLiD sequencer, which he co-invented at Agencourt Personal Genomics before it was acquired by Applied Biosystems. Prior to that, he spent 8 years adapting inkjet technology to DNA synthesis, first as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Lee Hood at the University of Washington, then as a Senior Director at Rosetta Inpharmatics until its acquisition by Merck in 2001. He is an inventor on seven issued patents principally in the fields of DNA synthesis, DNA sequencing and microfluidics. He serves as a Director of Thrive Bioscience, Inc. Dr. Blanchard received a BS in Mathematics and a PhD in Computation and Neural Systems, both from the California Institute of Technology.
