Biography
Mr. Thomas Forest Farb, also known as Tom, co-founded Thrive Bioscience, Inc in 2014 and serves as its President. Mr. Farb serves as Managing Director of Cappello Farb Asia Capital. Mr. Farb also serves as Managing Director of Cappello Group, Inc. of Cappello Capital Corp. He is Advisor, CVI Capital Holdings and Cappello Capital Corporation. He is the Founder of Estabrook Ventures, LLC. From July 2008 to December 2010, he was the President of Estabrook Ventures, LLC. He is Mentor at the Founder Institute and Senior Advisor of Microsoft Innovation Center. He is providing interim management services, business plan development and angel investments to numerous medical and technology companies. As part of Estabrook Ventures, Mr. Farb has had assignments as developing the business plan for the formation of Thrive Bioscience, Inc., President of MedicaMetrix and as Co-founder & President of Precision Ventures, LLC. He is a Co-founder, Chief Financial Officer and Advisor to Brahman Industries, LLC. He is Directly involved in founding 12 technology & life science companies. Mr. Farb served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Thrive Bioscience, Inc. From October 17, 2006 to July 3, 2008, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Endo Pharmaceuticals Solutions Inc. (formerly Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Interneuron Pharmaceuticals). In 2012 through 2013, Mr. Farb was Co-Founder, Executive Vice President of Corporate Development & Chief Financial Officer of Atherio. From 1994 to 1998, he served as an Executive Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. From 1998 to 2006, he participated in the private equity and venture capital industries. In 2003, he co-founded and was Managing Director of New America Partners. He joined Summit Partners in 1998 and served as its Chief Financial Officer and General Partner from 1998 to 2003. He served as General Partner of The New America Fund. Previously, from 1994 to 1998, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Interneuron Pharmaceuticals. From 1990 to 1994, he was Vice President of Business Development, Controller and Chief Financial Officer of Cytyc Corporation. He served as General Manager of Eastern Operations at Symbolics, Inc. He served as Chief Financial Officer and Bank of Boston. Mr. Farb held positions of Chief Financial Officer & Senior Vice President at Aircraft Funding Corp. He served as an Executive of AIRFUND Corporation. He is involved as board member, investor & advisor to numerous companies, including: Saf-T-Med, Health Dialog, Exact Sciences, Symon Communications, as well as numerous non-profits. He serves as a Director of Cambridge Light Partners, Norton Morton Sports, Retek Systems, Language Technology , MedicaMetrix, Chameleon Network, Symon Communications, Veroscan and Zencheng Power Corporation. He serves as Director of Thrive Bioscience, Inc. He also served as Director of HNC Software, Inc. since November 1987. He is or previously was a member of the following Non-Profit Boards: Board member of Research Accelerator Program of Partners HealthCare and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Board of Governors, Trustee and Treasurer of The Concord Museum, Trustee of The Fenn School, Trustee and Treasurer of The Carroll School, Private Equity Committee Member of Boston Symphony Orchestra and Member of Leadership Committee of New Bedford Whaling Museum. He served as a Director of Redwood Trust, Inc., Fair Isaac Corporation, Saf-T-Med, SIV Technologies and the Asia America Chamber of Commerce. From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Farb was Executive Director of the Trust for Science, Technology and Research, San Juan Puerto Rico. From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Farb participated in the private equity and venture capital industries. He has 30 years of experience in commercial banking, venture capital, private equity, treasury and corporate finance and starting and building a variety of companies. He is Entrepreneurial senior executive, investor & board member with extensive experience identifying, positioning & financing new business opportunities in early stage & established technology & life science companies. He has Significant transaction experience –- directly involved in raising over $135 million of private company venture capital, $420 million of public equity offerings & $2.4 billion of mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Farb graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Harvard College in 1980.
