Gerald Harmon

Biography

Gerald Harmon, MD, is vice president of Tidelands Health Group. A board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Harmon also serves as chairman of the American Medical Association. Dr. Harmon completed his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina and his residency at U.S. Air Force Regional Hospital. He has been a family medicine physician in the Tidelands region for more than 25 years. He served as chief surgeon and assistant surgeon general before retiring from the National Guard and the U.S. Air Force, where he served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He has been a delegate to the AMA House of Delegates for nearly two decades and is a member of the AMA Council on Medical Service. He is a clinical professor at the Medical University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is a former president and chairman of the South Carolina Medical Association.
