Jeffrey Stuart Skoll

Biography

Mr. Jeffrey Stuart Skoll, also known as Jeff, is the Founder of Capricorn Investment Group LLC and serves as its Trustee. He is a Co-Founder of Rise Fund at TPG Growth. Mr. Skoll founded Participant Media, LLC (formerly, Participant Productions) in 2004 and serves as its Chairman. He served as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Participant Media, LLC. Mr. Skoll served as the President at eBay Inc. from August 1996 to February 998 and served as its Vice President of Strategic Planning and Analysis since February 1998. Mr. Skoll served as the Channel Marketing Manager at Knight-Ridder Information Inc. from July 1995 to July 1996. He served as the President of Skoll Engineering, a firm that he founded, from September 1987 to August 1993. Mr. Skoll co-founded Micros on the Move Ltd. in 1990. He served as a Director of eBay Inc. from December 1996 to March 1998. He served as a Director of Ingenio Inc. In 1999, Mr. Skoll is the Founder and Chairman of Skoll Foundation. He serves on the board of the National Center for Arts and Technology and on the advisory board for The Elders. Mr. Skoll served as a Director of Silicon Valley Community Foundation. He also pioneered creation of the eBay Foundation through the allocation of pre-IPO shares. Mr. Skoll's recent honors and awards include Time Magazine's 100 People of the Year in 2006, Wired Magazine's Rave Award in 2006, Business Week's list of most innovative philanthropists in 2002 through present, the National Leadership Award for Commonwealth Club Silicon Valley in 2004, the Outstanding Philanthropist Award from the International Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2003, and the Outstanding Philanthropist Award from the Silicon Valley chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2002. In addition, in 2003, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto. Mr. Skoll received an M.B.A. degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business which he attended from September 1993 to July 1995. He holds a Honorary Doctor of Laws and a B.A.S.C. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
