Biography

Mr. Vishal Bali is a Co-founder and Chairman at Medwell Ventures. Mr. Bali is a Senior Healthcare Advisor and Advisor and Asia Head – Healthcare at TPG Growth. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Global Healthcare Holdings at Fortis Healthcare International Pte Ltd. He served as the Group Chief Executive Officer at Fortis Healthcare Limited until October 2013. Mr. Bali was responsible for operations of hospitals in Metros, International business and the corporate functions of marketing, human resources, quality and corporate communications. Mr. Bali served as the Managing Director of Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd. since April 4, 2007 and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He started his career with Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd. as a Management Trainee. He has led post merger integration and divestments of multiple healthcare delivery assets in Asia Pacific. Mr. Bali spent 19 years and established a pan India network of super specialty hospitals. His expertise in management analysis and successfully integrating healthcare strategy, operations and management through information technology has set industry benchmarks. He serves as a Director of Kanishka Housing Development Company Limited, Medwell Ventures Private Limited and Wockhardt Maharashtra Hospitals Limited. He has been a Director of Asiri Hospital Holdings PLC since December 14, 2015. He has been a Director of Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd. since April 4, 2007. Mr. Bali served as a Non-Executive Director of Dental Corporation Pty Ltd. In his tenure with Wockhardt, he has won various awards like the Chairman's award for Exceptional Contribution, the Chairman's Leadership Certificate, the Chairman's Team Citation for Performance and the Chairman's award for excellence in Team Performance. Mr. Bali is an invited member on the Strategic Initiatives group of Joint Commission International, US and on the Global Agenda Healthcare Council of the World Economic Forum. His keen interest in the globalization of healthcare and the evolving role of India has also led to a case study at the Harvard Business School. He is a recipient of the Indian Healthcare Leader of the year by Express Healthcare for his role in shaping the growth of the healthcare sector in India. Mr. Bali is an active member of the Indian Healthcare Federation and Confederation of Indian Industry and is a globally recognized industry public speaker. He served as a Consultant at Fortis Healthcare Limited since October 2013. He has over 24 years of exceptional experience in building robust healthcare businesses, to transform Medwell into India’s most-preferred healthcare delivery enterprise. With tremendous exposure to different verticals in healthcare delivery, in developing and developed markets across Asia Pacific and the Middle East, he has taken several healthcare businesses to profitable growth. He has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He is recognized amongst the leaders in the change management of the healthcare delivery sector in India and is globally acknowledged for his contribution to the sector over the last two decades. Mr. Bali has 24 years of experience in building and leading global healthcare delivery organizations, in both developed and developing countries, through organic and M&A driven strategic growth initiatives. Mr. Bali has a unique and diversified business experience of managing a billion dollar integrated healthcare delivery organisation comprising Hospitals, Diagnostics, Primary Care and Daycare Speciality across various countries of Asia Pacific. His exposure to growing different verticals of healthcare delivery in India, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, SriLanka and Dubai has given him the exceptional opportunity to transform healthcare businesses in different geographies and take them to profitable growth. Mr. Bali completed his Master’s in Business Administration and Bachelor’s in Science from Bombay University and has completed an advance program in Hospital Management from Boston.
