Biography
Mr. David B. Robbins, J.D., CPA, is a Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Trevi Health Ventures LP. Mr. Robbins leads Trevi Health Ventures’ public equity investment activities. He served as Managing Partner at Trevi Health Ventures LP. Prior to that, he was active in private equity and alternative investments as a sponsor and member of investor groups and as a portfolio manager for private investment funds, with an emphasis in healthcare. Mr. Robbins is a private investor and investment manager and has been a practicing attorney since 1984. Additionally, he is engaged in various investment activities, including serving as a Founder and Principal at Tycho Management Corp., investing in growth companies particularly in the healthcare and technology sectors. Mr. Robbins has extensive legal experience in the commercial arena including mergers and acquisitions transactions and a wide variety of financing transactions in both public and private markets. Previously, he Co-founded Commerce Health Ventures, L.P. in 1993 and served as its Principal, Mr. Robbins formed and invested in, private equity and active investment opportunities with various investor groups and since January 1996, has provided investment and portfolio management services with an emphasis in alternative investments including private equity, real estate, venture capital and hedge fund investing. Additionally, from 1984 to 1995, he practiced corporate, finance and securities law at Cahill Gordon & Reindel and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel and subsequently practiced law as a Partner and Counsel at other New York City-based law firms, during which time Mr. Robbins also served as an Advisor to senior management at Elan Corporation. From 1995 to 2003, he served as a Partner in and then as a Counsel to Reitler Brown & Rosenblatt. Mr. Robbins has been Chairman of the Board at Bally Technologies, Inc. since May 23, 2014. He serves as the Chairman of the board of trustees of the McCarton Foundation and School. Mr. Robbins served as Chairman of the Board at Bally Technologies, Inc. from December 1997 to December 7, 2010. Mr. Robbins served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Alliance Gaming Corp. from February 1997 to September 1997. He has been a Director of Bally Technologies, Inc. since December 1997. He has been Director at Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. since March 9, 2016. He serves as a Director at E-Ven Holdings, Ltd. and Medisys plc. Additionally, he serves as a Director of Interventional & Surgical Innovations, Optovue, Paradigm Spine, Home Skinovations, EasyLap, EasyGlide and Deep Vein Medical. He serves as Member of Advisory Committee at Connecticut BioSeed Fund. He served as Lead Independent Director of Bally Technologies, Inc. from October 25, 2013 to May 23, 2014 and also its presiding Director until December 7, 2010. He served as a Director at Alliance Gaming Corp. from July 1994 to September 1997. He served as Director of MDY Healthcare Limited from October 02, 2001 to December 8, 2003. Previously, he also served as an Assistant Adjunct Professor of law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School, where Mr. Robbins has taught courses in corporate finance. Mr. Robbins serves as the Columbia University Medical Science and Technology Council and a Trustee of the McCarton Foundation. He previously served as a board member for Columbia University Medical School's Science and Technology Council and Connecticut Innovations life sciences seeder fund. Mr. Robbins is a licensed C.P.A. in the state of New York and received a J.D. from the New York University School of Law and a B.S., magna cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
