Biography
To energize students inside and outside of the classroom, real-world experiences and examples must be incorporated into the curriculum. These experiences can be useful when explaining theory, when demonstrating its applicability to career goals, and to demonstrate that what is being taught in class is happening in real time through trends and societal events. Future practitioners who are prepared to serve as counsel to CEOs and senior leaders must be media literate, technologically savvy, be critical thinkers and be innovative in their ideas and strategic planning process. I am committed to the development of the whole person in my teaching. I want students to be fanatical about writing, research and gaining new knowledge. I believe that public relations can be a powerful tool for change in society and teach from a critical perspective where activist public relations can be used to affect policy and societal norms. I teach to prepare the future generation of public relations practitioners to use their knowledge and skill of strategic communication management to improve the conditions of our society by effectively giving voice to the voiceless, and raising awareness around issues that matter the most to our communities.
