Biography
Pedagogy is the art of constructing knowledge in the context of a conversation with one's colleagues and one's students. Excellence in teaching demands depth of knowledge in my discipline, a passion for exploring the concepts and issues that the discipline is most effective in clarifying, a good ear for what my students are understanding, and a trunkful of examples and connections that I can articulate in a manner that will help engage the students. Teaching also requires intellectual integrity and a committed resistance to trivializing the material or the discipline.
