Biography

 Dr. Leslie Patton brings over seven years of experience in risk and exposure evaluation and hazard identification for products regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). She provides a broad range of services to satisfy the requirements of various regulatory statutes, including toxicological assessments, benchmark dose and QSAR modeling, risk assessments and data waivers for pesticides, animal health products and various consumer products, as well as food contact notifications and safety assessments for food products.  She models chemical migration into food associated with food contact substances (FCS), assesses risk potential of FCSs and determines their compliance with FDA, Health Canada, EU and other regulatory agencies. She also assists with food contact notification (FCN) submission to FDA. Dr. Patton performs safety assessment for drugs and drug excipients, and can assist with the preparation of the preclinical section of an Investigational New Drug application. In addition, she can review formulations of drinking water treatment systems/ chemicals and determine their compliance with national and voluntary health-based standards (e.g. NSF/ANSI). Dr. Patton can evaluate the human health- and ecological-related aspects of product formulations for submission to EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) Program. Dr. Patton has written numerous publications throughout her career and is an active member of the Society of Toxicology, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, and the Xi Sigma Pi Academic Society. Before joining Technology Sciences Group Inc. (TSG), she was a toxicologist at the CPSC, where she evaluated risk associated with consumer products with a focus on phthalates/phthalate alternatives, flame retardant chemicals and the use of nanotechnology. She also managed CPSC’s Animal Testing Policy project and was a liaison to the EPA/DfE Alternatives Assessment program’s stakeholder committee. Prior to CPSC, Dr. Patton was a toxicologist at ToxServices, where she performed exposure safety assessments on new or existing consumer products and drugs and drug excipients, as well as modeled chemical migration into food associated with FCSs

 Dr. Patton has expertise in conducting single- and multi-route exposure and safety assessments for new and existing consumer products, including food storage, home cleaning, insect control, cosmetics and personal care, and dietary supplements.
