Biography
Dr. Battista is an assistant professor at the Uniformed Services University (USU) for the Graduate Programs in Health Professions Education. She received her PhD from George Mason University, with a major emphasis in educational psychology and a minor emphasis in research methods. Dr. Battista also specializes in researching, designing, and implementing simulation-based learning for diverse healthcare specializations, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, in the undergraduate and postgraduate setting.
Research Interest
Dr. Battista’s research program focuses on understanding how simulations support learning in order to help healthcare stakeholders make informed decisions about design, sequencing, and assessment. She also researches faculty instructional practices in both skills-based and scenario-based simulations in order to advance the understanding of how instructional practices contribute to learning in simulation-based learning activities.
