Biography
Stephanie Davidson Visiting is a Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture Stephanie Davidson studied Fine Arts at Mount Allison University and architecture at Dalhousie University and the Architectural Association in London, United Kingdom. She worked for several international practices including AAS Gonzales Haase and Sauerbuch Hutton. She taught at the RWTH Aachen University, Germany and is currently teaching at the State University of New York at Buffalo, AAU in San Francisco and as a Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto. She is a founding partner of the office Davidson Rafailidis, established in 2009. The office does not distinguish between academic work and built work, applying the same standard of critical inquiry on both. This approach has garnered numerous publications including ARCH+, DETAIL magazine, BRACKET journal, Bauwelt etc. Over the last two years, the work was awarded a large number of international awards including the Blueprint magazine award 2016, DETAIL Prize finalist 2016, Best of Canada Design Award in 2015 and 2016 and is this year’s finalist in the House Award by the Architectural Review. Davidson co-wrote the book Processes of Creating Space: An Architectural Design Workbook (Routledge, 2017) with endorsements by Herman Hertzberger, Jacques Rousseau and Rachel Whiteread.
