Biography

Dr. Jeffrey E. Cassisi is a Professor and a member of the UCF Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program faculty. He obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1987 from the University of Florida. He is licensed in the States of Florida and North Carolina. He has published over 50 articles and chapters in the areas of psychophysiology, health psychology, neuropsychology, pain rehabilitation and psychology training issues. In addition, he has over 75 conference presentations in those areas as well. Dr. Cassisi has served as ad hoc reviewer for several journals and he serves on the editorial board of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. Dr. Cassisi is a member of American Psychological Association. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in health psychology, cognitive assessment and psychopathology. His current and future research priorities are to examine the influence of cultural factors in the practice of medicine and health psychology, and to combine his psychophysiological and multicultural interests into studies of pre-chronic and chronic diseases. Dr Cassisi has chaired or co-chaired 29 Ph.D. dissertations. These professionals include: Kenneth Lofland, Ph.D., Northwestern University, Department of Anesthesiology; Christine Sheffer, Ph.D. Associate Medical Professor, Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, City College of New York; Julie A Deisinger, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, Saint Xavier University, Chicago; and Ruth Elaine Graves, Ph.D., Director of Behavioral Medicine, Community/Family Medicine, Howard University Hospital. Dr. Cassisi currently serves as the major professor for four Ph.D. students in the UCF Psychology Department.
