Biography
As the course coordinator for the freshman biology labs and as a lecturer in the department of biology, it is my goal to increase the quality of education for the students at the University of Cincinnati by increasing the amount of active learning in both laboratory and lecture. In my teaching practices, I want to make changes that increase the success rate of freshman biology students, with the long-term hope of increasing retention and the number of biology majors in the department. With these issues in mind, I have several goals: • To revise the freshman labs to be more inquiry-based and research-authentic. • To be a resource to the faculty and graduate students concerning teaching techniques. • To find ways to increase the success of biology students. • To improve my own teaching skills and proficiency. • To participate in research that examines education practices at the University of Cincinnati.
