Mark W. Plano Clark

Biography

Mark W. Plano Clark is an Educator Associate Professor with a joint appointment in Physics and CECH. His early years involved accelerator-based atomic collision physics. He served on the faculty at Doane College – a liberal arts college in Crete, NE, for 16 years where he worked closely with undergraduates on a variety of projects including: 1) An NSF funded development of introductory physics curricular materials based on the human body (Humanized Physics Project – www.doane.edu/hpp, 2) maintenance and operation of Boswell Observatory (built in 1883), 3) the development of a robotic telescope, and 4) the development of a low-cost scanning tunneling microscope for high school and college classrooms in collaboration with Prof. Axel Enders of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. He was also active in the Nebraska Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (NAAPT) and with various public outreach activities centered around Boswell Observatory and science outreach activities with the Crete Middle School Enrichment program and the Lincoln Children’s Museum Science Committee.
