Biography
Dr. Michael Milks is beginning his 32nd year in pharmacy education, having taught previously for 28 years in the College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy, and is now excited to be commencing his 4th year as Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Findlay. Working with an exceptionally talented and productive team of colleagues, many of whom were his students over the past three decades, he teaches in the areas of pharmacology and pathophysiology in several of the upper-level therapeutic module courses. In addition, Dr. Milks orchestrates an elective course, Combatting Chemical Dependence: A Community Effort, which hosts numerous local professionals and experts in the area of substance abuse and chemical dependency to share their expertise and perspectives through a series of engaging and interactive seminars presented to enrolled UF students and to Findlay community members who are always welcome to attend these classes (at no cost) whenever possible.Dr. Milks graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1976 with a B.S. in Pharmacy degree, and later in 1982 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University. He completed his two-year postdoctoral training in the Department of Physiological Chemistry at The Ohio State University prior to joining the faculty at the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University in 1985. Additionally, Dr. Milks has served as chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Practice (1995 -1996), was twice elected Vice-Chairman of University Council (1997-1998 and ), and held a joint appointment as an Adjunct Instructor in the College of Medicine at the Ohio State University from 1982 to 2004. He also served as Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences at Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy from 2001-2005. Joining the faculty at The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy in 2013, Dr. Milks continues to challenge pharmacy students to develop their personal talents and professional skills to the very best of their abilities.
