Biography
"Abdel A. Alli, PhD, MPH Division of Nephrology, Hypertension & Renal Transplantation Assistant Professor of Medicine and Physiology"
Research Interest
"The Alli laboratory is primarily interested in understanding the regulation of renal transport mechanisms during diabetic nephropathy and essential hypertension. We apply a multidisciplinary approach that uses the full spectrum of methodologies in protein biochemistry and electrophysiology to identify and characterize novel drug targets in cellular and animal model systems. Some of the current projects in the Alli laboratory include (1) examining the role of exosomes in regulating membrane proteins in different segments of the nephron, (2) investigating the proteolytic dependent regulation of membrane transporters in renal epithelial cells, and (3) elucidating the role of scaffolding proteins in the anionic phospholipid phosphate dependent regulation of renal tubular transport proteins."
