Biography

Rene Soria Saucedo, Ph.D., M.D., joined the University of Florida College of Pharmacy as an assistant professor of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy in February 2017. He has been active in the area of health services research for more than nine years and has extensive consulting experience with intergovernmental agencies, including the Pan American Health Organization, the World Health Organization and UNICEF. In addition, he has conducted consulting work for ministries of health and non-profit organizations in Bolivia, Colombia, Holland, Mexico, Switzerland, Peru and Brazil. More recently, he worked for the Center of Assessment of Pharmaceutical Practices, or CAPP, at Boston University for four years. Soria-Saucedo received a Ph.D. degree in the Health Services Research program at Boston University School of Public Health. He also received a M.P.H. degree in the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico and his M.D. degree at the University of San Andreas. Soria-Saucedo’s work spans a variety of areas including health outcomes research, health services research, pharmaceuticals and retrospective data analysis. At the University of Florida, his work is directed towards understanding current trends of psychotropic polypharmacy utilization in Medicaid beneficiaries and the development of predictive models to assist pharmacists in preventing adverse drug events in hospitalized patients.
