Biography
I graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1997 and worked in mixed practice in Kent before undertaking a Residency in Equine Clinical Studies at the University of Cambridge in 2000. During this time, I gained the RCVS Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics). I then stayed at Cambridge for a further 3 years to complete a HBLB-funded PhD in cartilage biology.
Research Interest
Articular chondrocytes live in an unusual and constantly changing physicochemical environment. Due to the structure of the extracellular matrix, adult cartilage is avascular, relatively hypoxic and acidic compared to other tissues.
