Yifei Li

Associate Professor
Electrical and Computer Engineering
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
United States of America

Biography

Dr. Yifei Li received his BE degree in Optoelectronics Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan China in 1996. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA in 2001 and in 2003, respectively. Dr. Li's research interests include: RF/Photonics, photonic integrated circuit, coherent optical communications, quantum electronics and theoretical laser physics. Dr. Li is currently a faculty in UMassD. Prior to joining UMassD, he was a research faculty in the Center for Microwave/Lightwave Engineering (CMLE), Drexel University, where he is the key performer in many major research projects funded by the Office of Navel Research (ONR) and DARPA in the area of microwave photonics. These include: fiber radio communications, ultra-low phase noise tunable microwave optical signal generation, hybrid lidar/radar, and optical phase-locked loop for high dynamic range RF/Photonic links. Dr. Li also held a senior microwave engineer position in a startup firm responsible for designing GaN HEMT transistors, SiC PIN diodes, RF high power amplifiers and control devices.Dr. Li is a winner of European Microwave Association (EuMA) Young Scientist Prize (1st prize) during the 12th Colloquium on Microwave Communications held in Budapest, Hungary. He is also a winner of the 2008 DARPA MTO Young Faculty Award.

Research Interest

Dr. Li has four US patents in the area of RF/Photonics. He also has numerous publications in renowned technical journals and international conference proceedings.
