Biography

Ph.D, Information Systems, University of New South Wales, Australia MSc of Information Technology, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei is an Assistant Professor at the Ansari College of Business in the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and a visiting scholar at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Prior to joining UNR, Amir spent almost five years in Australia as a faculty member.

Research Interest

He is also a co-founder of the International Initiative of Assistive Technologies for Aged Care involving seven projects in partnership with several research institutes and two communities of seniors. These projects comparatively examine the transfer effects of innovative use of off-the-shelf technologies such as Xbox Kinect Video games or robots in independent and active living of seniors. Through these projects, a new theoretical approach for the up-take of assistive technologies among seniors has been developed. As an educator, Amir is also working on the use of social media to engage students outside of the class through peer-learning practices and flipped classes. He evaluates the students' engagement using the lens of revised community of inquiries (RCOI). He has been involved in developing an online executive MBA program in health informatics and BSc of serious games.
