Biography
"My name is Sonja Pippin, and I am an associate professor in the accounting department at the University of Nevada, Reno. I came to the University in 2006 - immediately after receiving my Ph.D. from Texas Tech University. I have taught courses in individual and business entity taxation at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as financial accounting for undergraduate and graduate students. I really enjoy learning about and teaching the tax and financial accounting issues related to business decisions. Students who have taken classes with me also know that I can get really excited about balance sheets and balancing in general. My research is mostly related to taxes and tax policy. I have published articles in academic journals (for example the Journal of Legal Tax Research and in Advances in Taxation) and in practitioner-oriented journals, such as the Journal of Accountancy, Strategic Finance, and the CPA Journal.
