Biography
Jim Gardner considers personal and instructional technologies essential tools that help educators solve problems and meet benchmarks. His principle area of scholarship focuses on the use of technology in educational settings, with particular attention to universal design for learning (UDL), and technology applications for students with disabilities and learners at-risk for school failure. He has communicated the benefits of special education technology and UDL via numerous public speaking events and written products, and has held leadership positions in state and national educational technology organizations. He is the past President of Technology and Media (TAM) Division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). He is also the immediate past Editor of The Journal of Special Education Technology. His hobbies include gadgets, attending musical theatre, scuba diving, and travel. One of his most memorable personal achievements was hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in 2003.
