Biography

Howard Degenholtz is Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Graduate School of Public Health and the Center’s Director for Research. He is also a core faculty member of the Center for Research on Health Care. Dr. Degenholtz’s research on long-term care focuses on the role of the physical environment on resident quality of life, and he is currently developing an intervention to improve the quality of life of nursing home residents. He is co-investigator on an NIH funded study on elder abuse. His areas of interest include health policy, long-term care, and aging. In the Graduate School of Public Health, Dr. Degenholtz took the lead in developing the Doctoral Program in Health Services Research and Policy in the Department of Health Policy and Management. He serves on the editorial board of The Gerontologist, one of the leading journals in long-term care and aging, and was awarded a book contract with Jones & Barlett to co-author Current Issues in Long-Term Care.
