Biography
McAlister has been researching the economics and aesthetics of contemporary media presentation and how those factors help or hinder the role of media in a democracy; rhetorical practices in film adaptation of nonfiction; and strategies for media resistance.
Research Interest
Andrew McAlister has particular interest in American studies (especially American film and television history), film and historical thinking, documentary film, popular culture, cultural studies and the ideology of mainstream film.
