Biography
Boulton began his career at Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, then taught documentary film production in Ecuador before returning to write and produce for Travel Channel, CourtTV (now TruTV) and Discovery Channel. His latest film is a collaboration with the Media Education Foundation entitled Not Just a Game: Power, Politics, and American Sports. Boulton’s articles on race and advertising appear in Howard Journal of Communications, tripleC: Communication, Capitalism & Critique, International Journal of Communication and Advertising & Society Review.
Research Interest
Christopher Boulton is both a veteran and critic of the creative industries. His research uses qualitative methods to analyze media at the level of text, audience and industry in order to explore the intersection of race and class in advertising and consumer culture.
