Biography

Prior to joining The University of Tampa, Diih taught undergraduate and graduate courses at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, NY. His research-led teaching and student mentoring earned him the Provost commendation for teaching excellence at John Jay College. During his more than 20-year career with the New York Police Department, Diih utilized his training in Counter Terrorism, Department of Homeland Security Citywide Incident Management training, Emergency Management training, Criminal Investigation, Critical Response, Hazardous Material and Substance Abuse trainings to enhance public safety. Diih is an active student mentor.

Research Interest

Sorle Stanley Diih is a criminologist and researcher with over 20 years of law enforcement experience. He has conducted extensive empirical research on the infiltration of the US financial market by traditional, non-traditional and trans-national organized crime syndicates. His research interests are in the areas of strategic public safety and crime reduction, corrections, punishment, rehabilitation, law enforcement, police-community partnership, public corruption, white-collar crime and trans-national crimes. Diih has presented research papers at conferences held by the World Congress of Criminology, American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He is a member of the American Society of Criminology and the British Society of Criminology.
