Biography

Ashley Sellers grew up on a small family farm in east Tennessee. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee, Ashley went on to attend Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia. While at Mercer, she was a Research Assistant and member of Mercer's distinguished Law Review. Ashley also received multiple awards during her law school career, including the Faculty Award for Outstanding Achievement in Legal Writing as well as CALI Awards for Excellence in Legal Writing I, Advanced Writing Group, Summary Judgment Practice, American Indian Law, and Current Topics in Criminal Law. After law school, Ashley worked with a private practice firm in Macon, Georgia, serving clients in the areas of school and education law, labor and employment law, estate planning and probate law, and contract litigation. Eager for the opportunity to combine her passions for agriculture and law, Ashley joined the Georgia Department of Agriculture as an attorney in June of 2013. In January 2016, she was appointed as the Department's Director of Legal Services. Ashley and her husband, Jody, reside in Henry County, where they attend Eagles Landing Baptist Church. In their free time, they enjoy hiking, biking, playing golf, and watching college football.
