Biography
"Ms. Valentin is a graduate of USciences (MT ’99) who has been working as a qualified practitioner of medical laboratory science since her graduation. She has two certifications by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a medical technologist and a technologist in molecular biology. She is an active member in ASCLS and holds memberships in ASCP and AMIA. During her career, she has worked in several different arenas including Bethesda Memorial Hospital Pathology and Laboratory Medical Services in Boynton Beach, FL; the Pennsylvania Bureau of Laboratories in Exton, PA employed in the BioWatch program under the direction of the Department of Homeland Security; and at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMC VAMC) in Philadelphia, PA Pathology and Laboratory Medical Services (P&LMS). All of her experience has been in clinical microbiology and molecular diagnostics. Before coming to USciences as a faculty member, the last laboratory position Diane held was microbiologist for 9 years and lead technologist for 3 years in the molecular diagnostics department at the CMC VAMC P&LMS. She has been instrumental in the development of an HPV molecular assay that services women veterans and the coordination of specimen preparation and result acquisition between physicians, the molecular laboratory technologists, and the external testing site specifically for Hepatitis C Virus genetic analysis to determine appropriate antiviral therapies. While in the midst of her career, Diane has been continuing her education by obtaining a certificate in Molecular Laboratory Diagnostics from Michigan State University Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program as well as perusing a master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics from Rutgers University School of Health Professions."
