Biography
My life has been spent understanding and experiencing the awesomeness of the world around us, and wanting everyone to be able to enjoy life as equals in an ever changing universe. As a professor of sociology I am able to study the various cultures in society and the structures that support or hinder equality, and take what I have learned into the classroom to share with students. I am interested in the subtleties of socialization of various cultures living in the U.S., and how family cultures retain norms and values of previous generations in the face of dominant cultural values. I carry this interest in another way in looking at the changes in occupations over time, and the resistance to any change at the individual and organizational level. I see understanding these changes or resistance to change as the root to responding to the future as we live with uncertainty.
