Biography
Dr. Murphy received his BA degree from Towson State University and his MA and PhD degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park. He arrived at University of the Sciences in August 2009 after fifteen years in the Midwest. He teaches a variety of Asian subjects, including Modern Japan, Modern China, The Atomic Bomb in Film and History, and Introduction to East Asia. On the American side, he teaches the American Civil War, and The American Frontier in Film and History.
Research Interest
His research interests deal with the intersection of Japanese and US culture. His third book, Inside the Bataan Death March: Defeat, Travail and Memory was published in 2014.
