Biography

Professor Brody holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Psychology and Biological Basis of Human Behavior and an MA from the New School/Parson’s School of Design in the History of Decorative Arts and Design. He is pursuing a doctoral degree (ABD) in the History of Art from the University of Oxford. He has completed internships at the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford) and Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (New York) and a Krueger/Christie’s fellowship at the St. Louis Art Museum. He has lectured to archaeology students at the renaissance kiln site at the Medici Villa “Cafaggiolo” and was the Assistant to the Curator of Prints at the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard. His primary research interest is the applied or decorative arts of the Italian Renaissance, specifically ceramics, a topic that has been the focus of numerous published articles. Since arriving at USciences in 2004, he has curated more than six exhibitions on various topics including: design influences on 19th-c. American art; the photography of Frederick Gutekunst; the paintings of Frank Netter, M.D; and mortar and pestle history. 

Research Interest

His primary research interest is the applied or decorative arts of the Italian Renaissance, specifically ceramics, a topic that has been the focus of numerous published articles.
