Biography

Dr. Aurora has continuously made an effort to popularize science among the general public. He has made presentations on numerous topics, including applications of physics in physical therapy, applications of physics skills in understanding defects in solids, and integration of computers in physics education. In his academia career, Dr. Aurora has taught courses in physics, astronomy, sound/vibration, calculus, physical science, electricity/magnetism and physics for health-care science majors. He has developed new courses at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia: medical physics, introductory biophysics, biophysics, thermodynamics, descriptive astronomy and physics of music. He has been a reviewer for Pictorial Mathematics for Elementary School and for the Institute of Physics. Through his research, he designed and developed a portable instrument to measure the response time of patients with brain injury. Dr. Aurora was honored for his dedication to his work through a 1989-90 Faculty Special Recognition Award for Distinguished Teaching. He is a member of several organizations, including the Industrial & Applied Physics Speaks List, American Physical Society, and the local chapter of American Association of Physics Teachers.
