Corinne D. Engelman
Associate Professor
Department of Population Health Sciences
University of Wisconsin-Madison
United States of America
Biography
Dr. Engelman is a genetic epidemiologist interested in complex diseases and quantitative traits of aging, such as Alzheimer's disease, cognitive function, vitamin D deficiency, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance. She is particularly interested in gene-gene and gene-environment interactions and methodologic approaches to studying the genetic contribution to complex phenotypes.Dr. Engelman is also studying the genetic and non-genetic determinants of cognitive decline in the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer's Prevention (WRAP), a longitudinal cohort study of asymptomatic middle-aged adults enriched for a parental history of Alzheimer's disease.
Research Interest
Gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in four main pathways that may contribute to cognitive decline and risk for Alzheimer's: cholesterol metabolism.
